Sharing ideas to help develop children’s skills through play.Adapt the concept to suit children’s ages and stages – you might just chat, or you might follow up with measuring roughly (or accurately). You can use everyday objects to measure – step out distances, or use known quantities rather than weights on balance scales. The more familiar children are with number concepts and the idea of units of measurement in real-life situations, the more easily they will learn to apply these in more abstract academic contexts.
