Sharing ideas to help develop children’s skills through play.

Advent maths comparisons Adapt the concept to suit children’s ages and stages – you might just chat, or you might follow up with measuring roughly (or accurately). You can use everyday objects to measure – step out distances, or use known quantities rather than weights on balance scales. The more familiar children are with number concepts and the idea of units of measurement in real-life situations, the more easily they will learn to apply these in more abstract academic contexts. Maths related resources are here. Maths infographics are here. More ideas for supporting maths are here. Daily advent posts will be collated on this page.
